Monday Mojo – Reset. Reconnect. Recharge.

Where do you feel most connected?

Sometimes people will say it’s with friends and family.  Others will say it’s when they’re in nature.  The science around trees for example, and how healing they can be, is now well documented.  Nature provides for us in many subtle ways.

It’s the same when we think about restoring our energy levels.  For some people it will be going on holiday, for others it will be less expensive self-care, like having a bath or just getting an early night.  It can also be quite healthy to spend time alone in quiet solitude by choice, and in many ways provides the opportunity to reconnect with our needs and aspirations.  Sometimes we can be so busy, we don’t know which way is up.

Here’s what might help:

This week, maybe set the intention to Reset.  Reconnect.  Recharge.  If you’ve been feeling disconnected from the world lately, it’s probably showing up in some early warning signs.  By that I mean, some people comfort eat, others will just take themselves off to bed when they’re not even sleepy.  Have a think about what indicates that you’re maybe starting to feel separate from the environment around you.  The absence of connection can cause us to ‘numb out’ in unhealthy ways, so make sure you’re a step ahead of that, to get in front of any coping mechanisms that tend not to work for you.  See what alternatives might feel more healthy, like going for a walk, some mindful writing (this article might help) or some meditation.

Where do you feel most in tune with the universe?  For some people it’s by water – can you treat yourself to a day at the seaside?  What about a trip to a local woodland where you can just sit and listen to the sounds of nature, and the leaves blowing in the breeze.  Have a think about what it would take to recharge your batteries, and do what you can with what you have from where you are.

Of course in order to feel connected, sometimes we have to break away from the things that aren’t working for us; ironically, breaking the connection can actually begin the process of healing, as painful as it can be.  If that’s the case for you right now, be gentle with yourself.  Make decisions this week that keep you well, and serve the version of yourself you’re striving to become.
